A delegation from the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE), led by its Director General Mr. Ngueto Tira\u00efna YAMBAYE, composed of the Principal Advisor for Cooperation and Resource Mobilization, Mr. Basile TCHAKOUNTE and the Regional Representative of the Fund in Africa Centrale Monsieur, Yacoubou ABDOULAYE, stayed in N’Djamena in Chad, from February 22 to 25, 2023.<\/p>\n

Three (3) major events marked this mission.<\/p>\n

Indeed, at the invitation of the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI), and the French Development Agency (AFD), the Director General of FAGACE and his Delegation participated in N’Djamena at the 3-day face-to-face seminar on agricultural policies in Chad based around the theme: What paths to modernization for agriculture and livestock breeding in Chad. On this occasion, the interventions made it possible to draw the attention of stakeholders to the opportunities offered by FAGACE in the mobilization of resources and the financing of promising projects in all sectors, particularly agricultural.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the Seminar and following the discussions between the Director General of the Fund and the Minister of Infrastructure and Accessibility, Dr Idriss Saleh BACHAR during the 2nd Dakar Summit on infrastructure financing in Africa, the delegation was received in hearing at the ministry on February 24, 2023. The opportunities offered by the Fund in supporting structuring projects were thus presented. The mission also recalled the importance of developing relations between the Chadian State and African financial institutions such as FAGACE. Thus, the Fund reaffirms, through this approach, its desire to support African States and particularly Chad, in its development at different levels.<\/p>\n

The Mission also met the Office of Military Engineering and Production (OGEMIP), a public establishment of an economic and commercial nature, having financial autonomy and responsible for carrying out projects in the agricultural, industrial, road infrastructure, mining, transport, etc. From the discussions that took place, it emerged that there was a desire to see FAGACE play a more important role in its capacity as guarantor, in the financing of the Chadian economy in general and the infrastructure sector in particular.<\/p>\n

Finally, a working session took place with the Chad Chamber of Commerce on February 25, 2023, with a view to the operational implementation of the partnership agreement between the two institutions for the year 2023.<\/p>\n

FAGACE’s mission to Chad highlighted the mechanisms proposed by the Fund to support the structuring projects of the government and the Chadian agricultural sector.<\/p>\n
