The African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE) is celebrating its forty-fifth anniversary this year.<\/p>\n

The launch conference marking the start of the celebrations was held at the Novotel Orischa in Cotonou, this Thursday, February 24, 2022 under the presidency of Mr. Romuald Wadagni, Minister of State for the Economy and Finance of Benin.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, questions relating to the evolution of guarantee mechanisms and their adaptability to the current realities of banks and legislation were developed during a high-level panel on the theme: \u201c45 years serving development in Africa: challenges and prospects \u00bb<\/p>\n

This conference made it possible to review various issues linked to the lever role of the guarantee in the financing system of economies, in particular: i)<\/b> the state of the market and the ecosystem in relation to development strategies, ii)<\/b> the assessment of FAGACE’s interventions as well as the experiences of its partners., iii)<\/b> the mobilization of resources and know-how for financing.<\/p>\n

The conference brought together the country’s political and economic authorities, financial and regional institutions, the Fund’s technical and social partners and economic operators.<\/p>\n

Reiterating his support for the Fund, the Minister’s Representative, in his launching speech, congratulated FAGACE for its resilience and the significant progress made in recent years which augurs well for a bright future.<\/p>\n

He then thanked the Director General Ngueto Tiraina YAMBAYE for choosing Benin as the host country for the International Forum closing the festivities, announced for November 2022 and which will be structured around the \u201cTheme: \u201cthe Guarantee at the heart of the Financing of the Development of tomorrow\u2019s Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE) is one of the forerunners in the field of guarantees in Africa.<\/p>\n

Originally FAGACE was created by States to:<\/p>\n

Strengthen the links of cooperation and solidarity of member countries,
Promote the harmonious growth of their economies,
Offer maximum security to foreign and domestic capital wishing to come and invest in Africa.<\/p>\n

After all these years serving the development of its 14 Member States, the Fund today displays appreciable standards.<\/p>\n

In view of the results mentioned by the Director General, to date more than 400 projects have been financed thanks to the Fund’s guarantee, for more than 2,700 billion CFA Francs for the benefit of both the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n

Operations have continued to gain in volume and scope as the demand of our economies has evolved and its governance, in recent years, has been profoundly reformed with consequent observable results.<\/p>\n
