APPOINTMENT OF A NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR AT FAGACE

« HENRI-MARIE J. DONDRA TO RELAUNCH THE INSTITUTION AND BOOST PARTNER CONFIDENCE»

The headquarters of the Fonds Africains de Garantie et de Coopération Economique hosted the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Board of Governors on February 12, 2010. Among the major decisions taken at the end of the meeting was the appointment of dynamic manager Henri-Marie DONDRA to the position of Managing Director.

The appointment of Henri-Marie DONDRA as FAGACE’s General Manager comes as no surprise to those who know him. Chosen to turn around the company, which had fallen victim to poor corporate governance, Henri-Marie DONDRA proved that the Board of Directors had made the right choice when they entrusted him with the interim management of his predecessor, who was dismissed for gross misconduct on November 12.

With a post-graduate degree in finance, FAGACE’s new Managing Director has a wealth of experience in international finance, and is very familiar with the Fund, which he joined a dozen years ago. His rigor and impeccable management skills have enabled him to achieve the results expected of his interim position.

As a modern manager, the Fund’s new Managing Director knows that his success depends not only on his own intellectual qualities, but also on the people he works with, hence his willingness to listen, his ability to bring people together and his consideration for human resources.

Now that the FAGACE governing bodies have renewed their confidence in him, the Fund’s Managing Director has set himself the task of further strengthening the institution’s financial capacity, thanks to the member states. To this end, he has initiated and proposed a Short-Term Recovery Plan (PRCT 2010-2011), which foresees the call for a significant tranche of capital in the coming days. The plan was unanimously approved by the Governors, who also agreed to hold an extraordinary meeting in the second quarter of 2010 to set the amount to be called and the specific conditions for its release.

Henri-Marie DONDRA’s appointment is undoubtedly a breath of fresh air for the institution’s staff, financial partners and promoters, and thus for Africa’s economic and social development.
