On July 06, 2011, the headquarters of the Fonds Africains de Garantie et de Coopération Economique hosted the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Board of Governors, which brings together the Finance Ministers of the 13 member states.
Among the major decisions taken was the reappointment of Mr Henri-Marie DONDRA for a full 04-year term.
In choosing Mr. DONDRA once again, the Fund’s Governors have just expressed their satisfaction with the management of the institution since 2010.
Indeed, it should be recalled that it was on February 12, 2010, that the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Board of Governors decided to appoint Mr. Henri-Marie DONDRA to the post of Managing Director to complete the mandate of his predecessor.
The reappointment of Henri-Marie DONDRA as General Manager of FAGACE comes as no surprise to those who know him. Chosen to turn around the company which had fallen victim to poor corporate governance, Henri-Marie DONDRA has proved that the governors made no mistake.
With a post-graduate degree in finance, FAGACE’s General Manager has a wealth of experience in international finance, and is very familiar with the Fund, which he joined some 15 years ago. His rigor and impeccable management skills have enabled him to achieve the expected results since his appointment.
As a modern manager, the Fund’s Managing Director knew early on that his success depended not only on his own intellectual qualities, but also on the people he worked with, hence his willingness to listen, his ability to bring people together and his consideration for human resources.
Now that FAGACE’s governing bodies have renewed their confidence in him, the Fund’s Managing Director has set himself the task of further strengthening the institution’s financial capacity, as well as its operational interventions, notably in investment guarantees. To this end, he is placing particular emphasis on the increased mobilization of new financial resources.
In view of the results already achieved in this area over the past 02 years, the reappointment of Mr. Henri-Marie DONDRA undoubtedly offers hope of further increasing the Institution’s interventions on behalf of private and public economic operators, as well as project lenders, and thus of Africa’s economic and social development.
