CENTRAFRIQUE: FAGACE DONATES AN AMBULANCE TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

The office of the Minister of Public Health and Population hosted an official handover ceremony on Friday April 23.

The ceremony was punctuated by two speeches: that of the FAGACE representative, Mme Emmanuelle Migan, followed by that of the Minister.of a Toyota Hiace Frame ambulance valued at forty-five million FCFA (45,000,000 FCFA). The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Finance, his colleague Fernande Ndjengbot, Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Population, and members of his cabinet.

In her speech, the FAGACE representative explained that improving CAR’s health system remains a challenge. The Fund’s intervention is part of its ongoing concern for the economic and social development of its most disadvantaged member countries.

In response, Fernande Ndjengbot, Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Population, expressed her gratitude to the Fund. She then reassured the audience that the vehicle would be put to good use, before calling for greater support for public health, which is one of the Government’s priorities.

The donation of an ambulance worth 45 million to CAR follows a number of initiatives undertaken by the Fund in the country in recent years. These include: the donation of IT equipment worth 25 million to relaunch CAPMEA, technical support for the creation of the National Guarantee Fund, the creation of a committee to follow up the recommendations of the Round Table on the issue of financing the Central African private sector organized by FAGACE in November 2010, and FAGACE’s guarantee line of one billion CFA francs to CBCA.
