At the invitation of the Nigerien Government, a delegation from the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE) led by Mr. Yacoubou Abdoulaye Alphaorou, Regional Representative of the Fund in Central Africa, takes part in the inaugural Forum on the engagement of the private sector in the Great Green Wall (GMV) initiative which is being held from June 5 to 8, 2023, at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Center in Niamey, under the presidency of the Nigerien Head of State, HE Mohamed Bazoum.
This meeting on the theme “Creating markets and restoring land in the Sahel for people and the planet” is organized by the Issoufou Mahamadou Foundation (FIM) in partnership with the Government of Niger; Futures Agribusiness (FAGRIB); the Great Green Wall Foundation (GGWoA) and the Pan-African Great Green Wall Agency (APGMW).
On this occasion, FAGACE’s communication focused on the creation, financing and promotion of value chains.
Indeed, the main results expected from this meeting are, among others, the presentation and promotion of the species and natural products of the Great Green Wall; the identification and structuring of start-ups with Great Wall products and services with a view to promoting them to investors.
It will also involve the creation of economic centers with integrated markets which will stimulate the development of value chains; alignment with the flagship programs of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, particularly the Zlecaf; the identification of areas of local south-south decentralized cooperation in the production, valorization, transformation and marketing of natural resources and in local economic development and economic integration.
The Forum will also promote the promotion of public-private entrepreneurship of service offerings and the development of renewable energy infrastructures, hydraulic works and priority social infrastructures.
