FAGACE SUPPORTS INDUSTRIALIZATION IN GUINEA BISSAU

Following the invitation of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Guinea Bissau , a mission of the Fund stayed in Guinea Bissau from June 27 to July 03, 2015.

The aim of the mission was not only to raise awareness among development players and local and regional economic operators of FAGACE’s intervention mechanisms, to enable them to benefit from the opportunities offered by the Fund, but also to strengthen economic cooperation between the Fund and the Government of Guinea Bissau within the framework of PPP partnerships for the country’s development.

The forum, which took place at the AZALAI Hotel in Bissau, was attended by a number of high-profile personalities, including: the Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau, Mr Domingos SIMOES PEREIRA, the Minister of Energy and Industry, Mr Florentino MENDES PEREIRA, the Minister of Energy and Industry, Mr Degol MENDES, Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Integration, the Regional Director of UNIDO, and representatives of other regional financial institutions such as BCEAO, ECOWAS, UNIDO and the World Bank. Degol MENDES, Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Integration, the Regional Director of UNIDO, as well as representatives of other regional financial institutions such as BCEAO, ECOWAS, EBID, BOAD, ADB, IFC, UNDP, the Economic and Monetary Commission of UEMOA and SABER, to name but a few.

The organization of the National Industry Days in Guinea-Bissau comes in the wake of the round table of Guinea-Bissau’s international partners in Brussels on March 25, 2015.

Through this event, the Government of Guinea-Bissau aimed to foster direct interaction between industry stakeholders and partners to examine and propose solutions on issues hindering the country’s industrial development and growth. The forum took place in several stages, including a trade fair, an investor forum and organized visits to industrial facilities.
