FAGACE GRANTS A FCFA 4 BILLION GUARANTEE TO ATEL-MALI!

Henri-Marie DONDRA, Managing Director of FAGACE, and Appolinaire COMPAORE, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alpha Télécommunication Mali (ATEL Mali), have signed a guarantee agreement for the creation of a new telecommunications network in Mali.

Worth FCFA 4 billion, or 40% of the loan to be mobilized by ATEL-Mali from the West African Development Bank (BOAD), this agreement will enable the deployment of the network and the development of the third global telecommunications license in Mali, for which ATEL Mali has been awarded.

Indeed, the project is essentially justified by the growing evolution of the mobile telephony market in Mali, and above all by the growth potential for Internet and value-added services. The infrastructure to be deployed under the project will be located throughout Mali, with the main equipment making up the core network and fixed Internet access in Bamako and the regional capitals (Sikasso, Ségou, Koulikoro, Kayes).

In the short and medium term, FAGACE intends to step up its work in the field of information and communication technologies. It will thus support the development of integrated regional broadband communication infrastructure networks for the benefit of the populations of its member states.

This endorsement for ATEL Mali brings the total volume of the Fund’s guarantee commitments in Mali to 16.417 billion CFA francs.
