A delegation from the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE), composed of the Principal Advisor to the Director General for Cooperation and Resource Mobilization Mr. Basile TCHAKOUNTE, and the Director of Risk Management, Mr. Mouhamadou Al Amine DIA, stayed in Nouakchott in Mauritania, from March 13 to 17, 2023.

Indeed, at the invitation of the Investment Promotion Agency in Mauritania (APIM), FAGACE participated in the ICDT Invest Days Nouakchott forum (OCI-Mauritania Investment Forum) from March 15 to 16. The objective of this event is to initiate direct contacts between investors and project promoter institutions. It brought together more than 10 quality speakers, 57 countries and 7 sectors.

The first day of this high-level meeting was marked by the participation of FAGACE in the panel on the theme: “Financing the Economy smarter, bigger and more inclusive” which allowed the Fund to highlight the mechanisms proposed to support, also both the structuring projects of the Government and those of the private sector in priority sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, livestock, fishing, industry, tourism.

Following the forum, a partnership agreement was signed between FAGACE and APIM. FAGACE is therefore positioned as an instrument serving the financing of the Mauritanian Economy.

Furthermore, in order to explore mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation, the mission was also an opportunity to meet banks wishing to collaborate with FAGACE. This proximity and information approach is part of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan “The New MOMENTUM” and aims to make the Fund the preferred partner of banks, a major player in everyone’s financing ecosystem. of its Member States. Among the banks met, we can cite:

  • Société Générale Mauritania;
  • the Islamic Finance Bank (BFI);
  • Attijariwafa bank.

Through this mission, FAGACE demonstrates its desire to strengthen its presence and its interventions in Mauritania.
