FAGACE Managing Director Ngueto Tiraïna YAMBAYE took part in the Salon des Banques et PME de l’UEMOA in Dakar on Thursday, November 02, 2023, at the invitation of Senegal’s Minister of Trade, Consumer Affairs and SMEs.

The Fonds Africain de Garantie et de Coopération Économique (African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund) has been supporting the Salon des Banques et PME de l’UEMOA, an annual, rotating initiative, for several years now, not only to raise awareness of the role of guarantees among players in the financing ecosystem, but above all to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the emergence of SMEs in Africa, and in this case those in the UEMOA region.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the Salon, which took place at the Place du Souvenir Africain in Dakar, Senegal, under the presidency of Mr. Abdou Karim FOFANA, Minister of Trade, Consumer Affairs and SMEs, representing the Prime Minister, SEM Amadou BA, the Managing Director of the Fund presented a keynote speech on the theme: “Financing and supporting AOPs and SMEs in the UEMOA in a context of resilience and economic recovery”.

On the sidelines of this event, the Managing Director of FAGACE was awarded the “Prix Manager des Institutions Financières Damo Justin Baro”. According to the organizers, this prize is designed to recognize outstanding leadership in the financial institutions sector in West Africa, particularly in WAEMU member countries. It is intended for an individual who has distinguished himself/herself through outstanding commitment to the management of financial institutions, such as banks, microfinance institutions or other financial establishments, and who has made a significant contribution to the region’s economic development.

The prize awarded embodies the values of integrity, competence, innovation, and dedication to the advancement of the financial sector, and encourages FAGACE to continue its march with committed leadership towards a more inclusive economy in its member states.
