EXTENSION OF NIGELEC ELECTRICITY NETWORKS: FAGACE APPROVES 27.6% OF BOAD LOAN
10 April 2006
FAGACE is providing 27.6% of the BOAD loan, i.e. 2 billion CFA francs, for the extension of NIGELEC’s electricity networks.
The aim of the project is to integrate areas currently electrified by isolated generation into NIGELEC’s general interconnected network, and to supply new localities by extending and reinforcing around 750 km of medium-voltage (MV) and 150 km of low-voltage (LV) networks.
The project is justified by the scale of unmet demand, the reduction in production costs per kWh and the improvement in the country’s electrification rate. The total cost of the project is estimated at 8,477 million CFA francs excluding VAT. The BOAD loan amounts to 7 billion 250 million F CFA.
